Lions and buffalos

This is an appeal to the masses.

Has anyone seen a real live bottle of local Buffalo or Lion beer lately ?  I would like to acquire.
Does anyone know the history of these two breweries ?

Don’t worry, I have no intention of actually drinking them.

  1. Apparently neither has been seen prior to April last year. Unsubstantiated reports (read as: rumours) say one of them (or both) put someone down almost permanently and it was all downhill from there.

  2. I think you meant neither has been seen after April last year.

What I really meant was has anyone seen a bottle or two lurking on a shelf somewhere.

From a public health point of view, their demise rates along with mosquito nets as a necessity.

  3. I can’t remember them being THAT bad…. Timor isn’t in a position to be turning away potential local industries…

  4. Sorry…. one more general comment while I’m here.

The word for the national language, “Tetum” uses an “m” when written in English and an “n” when written in Tetum or Portuguese. Don’t ask which it uses when written in Indonesian.

This is one of the few things both sides of the linguistic zealotry agree on.

  5. Hello,
I read your comments about Buffalo and Lion beers with great interest, as a worlwide beer label collector of over 25 years, I would love to get my hands on some of these labels for my collection, if you happen to see these beers could you please help me ?
Do you know if these beers were brewed locally or imported from somewhere ?

  8. Neither of these breweries exist anymore and have never re-opened since about May last year.

I have photos of the labels – that’s the best you will get from me.
